Thornbury is a market town in South Gloucestershire, England, lying around ten miles north of Bristol. It sits on the edge of the Severn Estuary and the Severn Vale, close enough to the M5 and the edge of the Cotswolds to feel rural while remaining convenient for commuters.
The town is best known for the Tudor manor Thornbury Castle, associated with Henry VIII, alongside a medieval parish church and a traditional market square. Today it blends independent shops, weekend markets and community events with some light industry and heritage tourism; it also lost its rail link in the 1960s, so road connections and local services play an outsized role in town life.
