Norton Central

Norton Central is an electoral ward covering the traditional centre of the village of Norton in the borough of Stockton-on-Tees, on the southern side of the River Tees in North East England. The ward is centred on a compact High Street of independent shops, pubs and community facilities, with surrounding residential streets and small green spaces that give it a village-like feel despite being part of the wider Teesside urban area.

Historically Norton developed as a market settlement and the ward contains a number of older buildings and a conservation area that contribute to its local identity. Economically it combines local retail and services with many residents commuting to nearby towns and business parks, while active community groups and events help sustain a strong civic life amid the regeneration and development pressures typical of the region.
