Eye is a small historic market town in the district of Mid Suffolk, in the county of Suffolk, England. It sits amid gently rolling agricultural countryside close to the River Dove and is roughly midway between Ipswich and Norwich, which gives the town a quietly rural feel while still being within reach of larger centres.
Eye grew up around a medieval motte-and-bailey castle and retains a compact historic core with a Georgian‑flavoured High Street, a parish church, a small local museum and independent shops. Traditionally a market and service centre for surrounding farms, its economy now mixes local services, small businesses and tourism, and the town maintains an active community life with fairs, clubs and events that reflect its long history and strong village‑scale identity.
