Mellis is a small village and civil parish in Mid Suffolk, Suffolk, in England, set in gently rolling arable countryside. It is perhaps best known for Mellis Common, a surviving area of traditional meadow and pollarded trees that supports wildflowers and butterflies, and for a medieval parish church that reflects the village's long history. Historically the settlement was agricultural and was once served by a local railway station until the mid-20th century, which helped connect it to surrounding towns.
Today Mellis retains a quiet, rural community life centred on the church, village hall and local events; the nearby wartime airfield at Eye has left a local wartime legacy. While agriculture remains important, some residents commute to larger centres such as Stowmarket and Ipswich, and the village is valued for its attractive natural surroundings and sense of continuity.
