Hoxne is a small, rural parish in Mid Suffolk, Suffolk, England, set within the rolling arable landscape typical of the county. It is notable geologically for lending its name to the Hoxnian interglacial after important Pleistocene deposits were studied there; its built environment preserves the vernacular mix of flint, brick and thatch found across East Anglia.
Historically and culturally the village punches above its weight: the 1992 discovery of the Hoxne Hoard – the largest late-Roman gold and silver hoard found in Britain – brought national attention and many of the finds are now in the British Museum. Local tradition also links the area with the martyrdom of King Edmund, and the community today remains largely agricultural with a small, active local life centred on the parish church and village amenities.
