Mendlesham is a largely rural ward in the Mid Suffolk district of Suffolk, centred on the village of the same name. The landscape is patchwork farmland with small businesses and light industry, and many residents commute to nearby centres such as Stowmarket and Ipswich. Community life is anchored by a village primary school, clubs and an annual fete that give the place a friendly, local feel.
The area is notable for the remains of RAF Mendlesham, a wartime airfield used by American forces in the Second World War, whose site now hosts light aviation activity, an industrial estate and a small memorial. A nearby transmitter mast serves much of East Anglia, while the village itself retains a historic parish church and the sort of agricultural and heritage character typical of inland Suffolk.
