Oxted in Tandridge, Surrey is a pleasant market town on the southern edge of the North Downs, close to the rolling countryside of the Surrey Hills AONB and about twenty miles south of central London. Sitting in a small river valley and adjoining the village of Hurst Green, it has good access for walkers and country visitors and is overlooked by historic estates such as Titsey Place.
With medieval roots and notable Victorian expansion after the arrival of the railway, Oxted has become a commuter hub served by the Oxted Line while retaining an active high street of independent shops, cafés and pubs, a local museum and regular community events; the blend of accessible countryside and village-style amenities is a defining feature of the town.
