Darrington is a small village and civil parish in the City of Wakefield district of West Yorkshire, England. Set in a largely rural landscape, it has agricultural roots and a compact village core of older stone buildings and a parish church, with historic ties to the old West Riding of Yorkshire.
The local economy has long been shaped by farming and the influence of nearby coal and textile areas that defined much of the Wakefield district; today many residents commute to neighbouring towns such as Pontefract and Wakefield, while the village retains an active community life and periodic local events that reflect its village identity.
