Thorpe Audlin is a small village and civil parish in the City of Wakefield district of West Yorkshire, set in quietly rolling agricultural countryside. The name hints at medieval origins - 'thorpe' being an Old Norse word for a secondary settlement - and the village still shows a mix of traditional cottages and more modern housing while lying within easy reach of larger centres such as Pontefract and Doncaster.
Historically centred on farming, the local economy is now largely residential with many people commuting to nearby towns, but hedgerows and fields still frame the lanes. Community life is led by a parish council and local groups that organise events and look after amenities, so despite its small size Thorpe Audlin retains a strong village identity and a distinctly rural feel.
