Streethouse is a small former mining village in the district of Wakefield, in West Yorkshire, sitting close to Featherstone and not far from Pontefract. It grew up as part of the Wakefield Coalfield, and that industrial past still shapes the layout and community memory even as much of the local economy has shifted to commuting and light industry, with residents travelling to places such as Wakefield and Leeds for work.
The village today is largely residential, with terraces and newer housing, local pubs and community groups serving a tight-knit population, and easy access to surrounding countryside and waterways. Visitors will find remnants of mining heritage alongside recent regeneration, and it sits within reach of historic sites such as Nostell Priory and the corridors of the River Calder, offering a mix of post‑industrial character and rural edges.
