Lambourn is a village and civil parish in West Berkshire, England, set on chalk downland within the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The valley is drained by the River Lambourn, a seasonal chalk stream, and the surrounding rolling hills are dotted with prehistoric barrows and old droving lanes, giving the area a strongly rural character.
Often known as the "Valley of the Racehorse", Lambourn is one of the country’s major racehorse training centres, with numerous training stables, gallops and a close‑knit equine community that shapes much of the local economy and social life. The village retains traditional pubs, a small museum celebrating local and racing history, and a layered past that ranges from ancient archaeology to a long-standing rural and sporting heritage.
