Dufton is a small village and civil parish in Westmorland and Furness, in northern England, set on the lower slopes of Cross Fell in the Pennines. The cluster of traditional stone cottages around a village green gives it a remote, well‑kept feel and it serves as a handy gateway for hill walkers - the long‑distance Pennine Way and numerous bridleways pass close by.
Historically the area was marked by 18th–19th century lead mining, traces of which remain in spoil heaps and old workings, but today the local economy is largely a mix of hill farming and visitor services. The parish retains a small historic church and other traditional buildings, and a lively community spirit that hosts occasional local events for residents and walkers alike.
