Oxenholme is a small village just south of Kendal in the Westmorland and Furness unitary authority, England, sitting on the edge of the lower Lake District fells. Often called Oxenholme-on-Lune because of its railway station, it occupies a quiet, slightly elevated strip of land beside the transport routes that lead into the Lakes and across north-west England.
The village grew up around its mid-19th-century station on the West Coast Main Line, which is also the junction for the branch to Windermere, so it functions as both a commuter settlement for nearby towns and a handy gateway for visitors to the national park. Historically part of Westmorland, Oxenholme retains a largely residential character with a few local services, modest rail-related architecture and a community shaped by its transport links and proximity to outdoor recreation and tourism.
