Croome D'Abitot sits in the Malvern Hills district of Worcestershire in England, occupying largely rural parkland beside the River Severn and not far from Upton-upon-Severn. The parish is dominated by the great 18th-century estate centred on Croome Court and Croome Park, whose sweeping lawns, lakes and eccentric follies were laid out by Capability Brown and form a striking riverside landscape.
The house was long the seat of the Earls of Coventry and much of the estate is now cared for by the National Trust, drawing walkers, heritage visitors and occasional film crews. Locally the economy leans on agriculture and tourism, and the area has an intriguing mix of grand Georgian design, wildlife-rich parkland and a touch of 20th-century history thanks to the nearby Defford airfield and its wartime scientific connections.
