Stourbridge is a market town in the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley in the West Midlands of England. It sits on the banks of the River Stour, on the western edge of the Black Country and close to the Clent Hills, and developed around canals and rail links (including the very short Stourbridge Town branch) that once served heavy industry.
The town is best known for its glassmaking heritage - often called Stourbridge Glass - with a historic Glass Quarter around Wordsley, Amblecote and Wollaston and landmarks such as the Red House Glass Cone. That industrial past shaped the local economy and culture, though today Stourbridge also functions as a residential and commuting centre with good links into Birmingham and other nearby towns in Dudley.
