Droitwich Spa is a small market town in the district of Wychavon, in Worcestershire, England, sitting on the shallow valley of the River Salwarpe a short distance north of Worcester. It is best known for its natural brine springs, whose high salinity has been exploited for salt production since Roman times and gave the town its "wich" name and later the "Spa" tag when 19th‑century brine bathing became fashionable.
Historically a centre of salt working and trade, Droitwich Spa retains Georgian and Victorian architecture, a restored canal and a local heritage focus on its salt industry; today it combines that visitor appeal with a modern retail and commuter economy, lying within easy reach of Birmingham and the wider West Midlands. Local attractions include interpretation of the town’s salt history, waterways and leisure facilities such as the outdoor lido and riverside walks.
