Whitehouse is a suburban ward within the borough of Antrim and Newtownabbey, lying on the northern fringe of Belfast and close to the coastline of Belfast Lough. Its position beside neighbouring communities such as Jordanstown and Whiteabbey makes it a convenient commuter area with accessible road and rail links into the city.
Originally more rural, the ward expanded through 20th-century housing development and today is largely residential, with local shops, schools and community centres; small commercial and light industrial estates nearby provide local employment but many residents travel into Belfast for work. Community life is active, with sports clubs and neighbourhood groups, and the nearby seafront and green spaces offer straightforward access to walking routes and coastal views.
