Kinbane sits on the rugged north coast of Causeway Coast and Glens in Northern Ireland, dominated by the dramatic promontory of Kinbane Head. The headland takes its name from the Irish for "white head" and is capped by the atmospheric ruin of Kinbane Castle, a 16th‑century MacDonnell stronghold perched on a limestone outcrop; the cliffs and sea stacks here are important for seabirds and offer sweeping views along the Causeway coastline.
Locally the area is largely rural, with a small community sustained by mixed farming and seasonal tourism: walkers, birdwatchers and visitors en route between Ballycastle, the Giant's Causeway and Rathlin Island often stop to take in the scenery and the castle ruins. The ward retains a strong coastal and Gaelic cultural feel, with a history tied to local clans and maritime life rather than heavy industry.
