Loughguile and Stranocum lie in the rural heart of Causeway Coast and Glens in Northern Ireland, occupying rolling farmland and small nucleated villages at the edge of the Glens of Antrim. The landscape is scenic and well used by walkers and local farmers alike, and you can find traces of older settlement in the form of church ruins and field monuments that hint at a long local history.
The communities are closely knit, centred on parish halls, local pubs and sports clubs; Loughguile in particular has a strong Gaelic games tradition through its hurling club, while Stranocum is a quieter village with historic buildings and links to nearby market towns. Economically the area is largely agricultural with a degree of rural tourism from visitors exploring the nearby coast and glens, and many residents commute to larger centres for work or services.
