Belleek and Boa lie in the far west of Fermanagh and Omagh, a patchwork of lakes, rivers and bogland close to the border with County Donegal and the waterways of Lower Lough Erne. The landscape is notable for its islands, crannogs and sheltered fishing waters, with a quiet rural network of lanes and small farms that feel remote but are shaped by strong cross‑border connections and a long history of settlement.
The area around Belleek is best known for its pottery, a 19th‑century industry that put the village on the map and continues to draw visitors to a visitor centre and craft workshops; elsewhere the local economy is a mix of agriculture, angling and tourism. There are also visible traces of older history in ringforts and ecclesiastical sites, and the communities here tend to be small, close‑knit and culturally rooted in both Irish and Ulster traditions.
