Sixmilecross is a small, largely rural ward and village in County Tyrone, administratively part of the Fermanagh and Omagh district of Northern Ireland. Set amid the drumlin-dotted countryside and farmland typical of the area, it takes its name from being roughly six miles from Omagh and sits close to small rivers and bogland that have shaped local land use for generations.
The community has a strong local identity centred on village institutions such as the church, primary school and the local Gaelic Athletic Association club, with agriculture and small local businesses forming the backbone of the economy and many people commuting to nearby towns. Historically the settlement served as a rural service and market point for surrounding farms, and that community focus still shapes social life and events today.
