Islandmagee is a narrow, largely rural peninsula on the east coast of Northern Ireland, administered within the Mid and East Antrim area. Sitting just east of Larne and projecting into the Irish Sea not far from Belfast Lough, it is characterised by rocky shorelines, small coves, farmland and a scatter of villages rather than a single town centre.
The local economy has long depended on agriculture and fishing, with many residents now commuting to Belfast and neighbouring towns; tourism for coastal walks and birdwatching is increasingly important. Islandmagee also has a distinct local identity and a notable history, including the 1711 witch trials, and community life centres on village halls, churches and seasonal events that reflect its close‑knit rural character.
