Tobermore is a small ward and village in the district of Mid Ulster, Northern Ireland, set amid the drumlin-strewn farmland typical of the region with views toward the Sperrin Mountains. Its name comes from the Irish Tobar Mór, “big well”, reflecting the springs that helped establish the settlement and give the area a sense of long-standing local identity.
Today the community is largely rural, centred on agriculture and small businesses, with many residents commuting to larger nearby towns such as Magherafelt and Derry. Tobermore retains a compact historic core of stone buildings and a lively local life - sports clubs (notably the local football team), community events and conservation-minded locals keep a strong village atmosphere despite wider economic changes in the region.
