Balmedie in Aberdeenshire, Scotland is a low‑lying coastal village on the North Sea with miles of sandy beach and an extensive dune system centred around Balmedie Country Park. The shoreline is popular for walking, wildlife‑watching and watersports and lies near the mouth of the River Ythan and the Forvie National Nature Reserve, giving the area notable natural interest.
Originally a small farming and fishing community, Balmedie has grown as a commuter village for Aberdeen while keeping local amenities, a primary school and an active community. It is also associated with the nearby Menie Estate and the development of the Trump International Golf Links, a controversial project that has shaped local debate, tourism and employment in recent years.
