Ardrishaig is a small coastal village on the western shore of Loch Gilp, an inlet of Loch Fyne, in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It is best known as the eastern terminus of the Crinan Canal, the early‑19th‑century shortcut that spares boats the longer passage around the Kintyre peninsula to the Sound of Jura, and the canal basin, swing bridge and harbour give the village a distinctly maritime feel.
Today Ardrishaig functions as a modest hub for boating and tourism with a marina, cafés and small shops, alongside remaining links to fishing and aquaculture; the community is compact and maritime‑minded, with a steady summer influx of leisure sailors and visitors exploring the nearby coastline. The village’s history and economy still reflect its role as a working port and canal gateway, making it a quiet but lively stop on the west‑coast circuit.
