Gourock is a coastal town in Inverclyde, Scotland, sitting on the southern shore of the Firth of Clyde just west of Greenock. It grew in the Victorian era as a seaside resort and ferry terminus and still has a distinctive esplanade, pier and harbour; regular ferry and passenger services link the town across the Clyde to places such as Dunoon and Kilcreggan, and the railway provides easy commuter access into Glasgow.
The town retains a strong maritime character with sailing clubs, fishing roots and scenic viewpoints overlooking the water towards the Argyll hills and the Cowal peninsula. Today it’s a mix of local shops and waterfront leisure, valued both by residents who commute to the city and by visitors looking for coastal walks, regattas and a compact, friendly community atmosphere.
