Isle Martin is a small, largely uninhabited island off the north‑west coast of Highland, sitting in the outer reaches of Loch Broom not far from the port of Ullapool. Its mix of rocky shoreline, grassy knolls and low cliffs gives rewarding views across the Summer Isles and nearby hills, with a few sheltered bays and pockets of coastal woodland adding to the variety of habitats.
Evidence of past crofting and fishing activity remains, but in recent decades the island has been managed by a trust as a conservation and access project, with simple visitor accommodation, marked walks and an emphasis on local heritage. It’s a quiet spot much liked by birdwatchers, boaters and anyone after unspoilt coastal scenery within easy reach of the mainland.
