Map of the UK

Tanera More, known in Gaelic as Tannara Mòr, is the largest of the Summer Isles off the north‑west coast of Highland, Scotland. The island is characterised by a rocky granite shoreline, sheltered bays and areas of machair and heather, which support a rich birdlife and regular seal sightings; its landscape still shows the remnants of old croft houses and field boundaries from when fishing and small‑scale farming were the norm.

Historically a crofting and fishing community, it was largely depopulated in the twentieth century and today is chiefly used for conservation, seasonal holiday lets and quiet tourism, attracting kayakers, birdwatchers and those seeking a remote retreat. Accessible only by boat from places such as Ullapool, it carries a strong sense of Gaelic heritage and the layered history of the Hebridean islands.
