Borth is a coastal village on the eastern shore of Cardigan Bay in Ceredigion, Wales, noted for its long sandy beach backed by dunes and the nearby Ynyslas sandspit and Dyfi Estuary/Cors Fochno nature reserve. At low tide a remarkable submerged forest of ancient tree stumps and peat is exposed along the foreshore, giving the area a prehistoric character and occasionally producing archaeological finds.
The local economy leans on tourism - holiday cottages, caravan parks and walkers using the Ceredigion Coast Path - and the village is served by a station on the Cambrian Line with links to Aberystwyth and Machynlleth. It’s a small, community-minded place prized for birdwatching and coastal walks, with conservation and coastal-erosion issues shaping local life.
