Oakenholt is a ward on the eastern edge of Flint in Flintshire, North Wales, lying close to the tidal fringe of the River Dee and adjacent marshes that attract wintering waders and wildfowl. Its position beside the A55 and within easy reach of the Deeside industrial corridor means it feels both semi-rural and well connected to bigger employment and shopping centres.
Locally the area combines mixed residential neighbourhoods with small local shops and community groups, and its history is visible in the ruins of Oakenholt Castle, a reminder of the medieval landscape around Flint. Many residents commute to nearby industrial estates or to Chester, but there remains a quiet, community-focused character shaped by the town’s maritime and industrial past.
