Newborough sits on the south‑west coast of the Isle of Anglesey in Wales, framed by the long sweep of sandy beach and dunes at Newborough Warren and the pine shelterbelt of Newborough Forest. The location gives dramatic views across the Menai Strait to Snowdonia, and close by is the tidal islet of Ynys Llanddwyn, a striking landmark with ruined chapel remains and coastal paths popular with walkers and photographers.
Though small and quietly residential, Newborough has a strong outdoor and conservation character: the dunes and saltmarsh are important for wildlife and are protected for their habitats and birdlife, while the forest was planted to stabilise the coast and is now used for recreation. The local economy leans heavily on tourism, outdoor pursuits and small‑scale farming, and the area retains a distinctly Welsh cultural feel with links to the legend of St Dwynwen on nearby Ynys Llanddwyn.
