Malltraeth is a small village on the south side of the Isle of Anglesey in Wales, sitting beside Malltraeth Bay at the mouth of the Afon Cefni. The area is dominated by wide tidal sandflats and marshes that attract waders and wildfowl, making the shoreline and reedbeds popular with birdwatchers and walkers.
The landscape was shaped in the 19th century by a cob built to reclaim saltmarsh for agriculture, and farming still underpins the local economy alongside small-scale tourism and outdoor recreation. It remains a predominantly Welsh-speaking rural community with a village hall and chapel, while larger centres such as Bangor and Holyhead are within commuting distance.
