Goodwick (Welsh: Wdig) sits on the north coast of Pembrokeshire in Wales, immediately adjacent to Fishguard. The town hugs Fishguard Bay, with a working harbour and ferry terminal close by at Fishguard Harbour, sweeping views toward Strumble Head and Ramsey Island and, on a clear day, across the Irish Sea to Ireland. There are sandy stretches such as Goodwick Sands and easy access to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, so the shoreline character is very much part of local life.
Goodwick’s economy and identity have long been shaped by maritime links - the ferry service to Ireland, fishing and seasonal tourism all matter - and Victorian railway and harbour works helped give the town its shape. Culturally it shares community events and amenities with neighbouring Fishguard, and is close to the historic site associated with the 1797 French incursion, often noted as Britain’s last attempted invasion, which adds a touch of local history to an otherwise quietly maritime, working-town atmosphere.
