Presteigne is a compact market-town ward in Powys, Wales, sitting on the banks of the River Lugg close to the border with Herefordshire. Once the county town of historic Radnorshire, it retains a distinctive mix of 18th- and 19th-century buildings, a former courthouse and a layout shaped by its market-town past and a mid‑20th century loss of the railway.
Today the ward’s economy leans on agriculture, local services and small‑scale tourism, with an unexpectedly lively arts scene - the Presteigne Festival and several galleries and independent shops draw visitors. Community life remains active around markets, walking routes into the surrounding countryside and volunteer-run cultural and heritage projects.
