The Whitton parish sits in eastern Powys, close to the England–Wales border in Wales, a few miles from the small market town of Presteigne. The landscape is typical of the border countryside, with rolling pasture, hedgerows, narrow lanes, small woodlands and scattered farmsteads.
Historically part of old Radnorshire, the community remains sparsely populated and largely agricultural, with sheep and cattle farming alongside a number of converted cottages and small-scale visitor accommodation. The area retains a quiet mixed Welsh–English cultural feel, visible in local events and its handful of historic buildings, making it representative of borderland rural life rather than a bustling centre.
