Stewartby is a small industrial village on the edge of Bedford in Bedfordshire, sitting in the low-lying clay country of the Marston Vale. It was largely developed in the interwar years as a model village for workers at the nearby brickworks run by the London Brick Company, and the village still bears that industrial heritage in its layout, former brick chimneys and a local railway halt on the Marston Vale line.
Much of the former clay extraction around Stewartby has been reclaimed as lakes and greenspace, now used for wildlife, watersports and walking as part of the wider Marston Vale Millennium Country Park and the Forest of Marston Vale. The community has a strong local identity rooted in its brickmaking past, while its position between Bedford and Milton Keynes makes it a quiet, well connected place for commuters and nature lovers alike.
