Crayford is a south‑eastern suburb in the London Borough of Bexley, historically part of Kent. It sits alongside the River Cray and combines a compact high street and mixed Victorian and post‑war housing with good commuter rail links into central London, making it a largely residential area with local shops and light industry.
The settlement grew up around riverside mills and other industry, and echoes of that past survive alongside modern housing and community facilities. Notable local touches include the sporting venue at Crayford Stadium for greyhound racing and a number of small parks and riverside stretches that give parts of the area a village‑like feel despite its close links to the capital.
