Basingstoke is a large market town in the borough of Basingstoke and Deane in Hampshire, England. It has medieval origins as a market settlement but was extensively expanded and redeveloped in the 20th century, leaving a mix of historic streets and modern shopping and office areas at the town centre.
Today the town functions as a commercial and commuter hub with a strong presence of distribution, light industry and service businesses, good rail and road links into London and plentiful leisure facilities including a well‑regarded concert hall, museums and regular community events.
