Royds is an electoral ward on the outskirts of the City of Bradford in West Yorkshire, made up largely of suburban and semi‑rural neighbourhoods. It combines post‑war and later private housing with pockets of small industrial and commercial premises, local shops and green corridors that give residents quick access to the surrounding countryside while remaining within easy reach of the city centre.
Like much of the Bradford area, Royds has roots in the region’s industrial past and today reflects a predominantly working‑class, mixed community with active local groups and regeneration projects aimed at improving housing, services and employment opportunities. The local economy relies on small businesses, retail and commuting to larger employment centres, and the ward has a strong sense of local identity centred on community facilities and schools.
