Oakenshaw is a small village on the outer edge of Bradford in West Yorkshire, sitting close to the boundary with Kirklees. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it grew up during the 19th-century textile boom and still shows that industrial past in stone terraces and converted mill buildings set against the rolling Pennine foothills.
Today Oakenshaw feels like a quiet commuter community with local shops, pubs and active village groups, attractive to people working in nearby centres such as Leeds, Huddersfield and Bradford thanks to good road links including the M62. The village retains a strong local identity through sports clubs and community events, alongside pockets of countryside that appeal to walkers and families.
