Askett and Whiteleaf sit on the scarp of the Chiltern Hills in Buckinghamshire, just above Princes Risborough. The settlements lie within the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with beech woods, chalk slopes and commons that make the area popular with walkers and birdwatchers.
Whiteleaf is best known for the simple but striking Whiteleaf Cross, a chalk figure on the hillside of uncertain origin that frames long views over the Vale of Aylesbury, and there are nearby earthworks and old quarries of local interest. Askett is a small, picturesque community of stone cottages and narrow lanes, largely residential with some farming and small businesses, while many people commute to London or neighbouring towns; together they offer a quietly rural, historically textured corner of the Chilterns.
