Pitstone is a small village and civil parish in Buckinghamshire, sitting on the edge of the Chiltern Hills close to Ivinghoe Beacon. It has a distinctly rural feel with chalk downland on Pitstone Hill, a well‑known local windmill - Pitstone Windmill, often described as one of the oldest surviving examples in England - and nearby water and wildlife at Pitstone Reservoir that attract walkers, birdwatchers and watersports enthusiasts.
Historically an agricultural community, Pitstone has gradually become more residential, with many people commuting via nearby Tring and further afield to Aylesbury or London. The village retains a strong sense of community through clubs, the village hall and local events, and its mix of thatched cottages and later housing gives it a varied, lived‑in character rather than a fully modern commuter suburb.
