Southill is a small village and civil parish in Central Bedfordshire, set in gently undulating arable countryside and pockets of parkland typical of eastern Bedfordshire. It sits a few miles from the market town of Biggleswade and is within reasonable commuting distance of Bedford and London (with rail connections nearby), so it combines a quiet rural feel with easy links to larger centres.
Historically centred on agriculture and local country estates, the village retains a close-knit social life with a village hall, parish activities and occasional community events; the local economy still leans on farming alongside commuters and small enterprises. The surrounding lanes, hedgerows and woodlands make it popular with walkers and cyclists, and a number of older buildings and a generally conservation-minded atmosphere give it a distinctly traditional Bedfordshire character.
