Wellingborough is a historic market town in North Northamptonshire, England, set on the banks of the River Nene and roughly between Northampton and Kettering. Its compact centre and surrounding parks reflect its riverside setting, with a mix of Victorian streets and newer housing developments that have expanded the town in recent decades.
Originally a medieval market and later a 19th‑century industrial centre famed for boot and shoe making and engineering, the town still shows that industrial heritage alongside landmarks such as St Mary's Church. Good rail links on the Midland Main Line make it a popular commuter base for London, and ongoing regeneration - including retail and riverside improvements around the Swansgate Centre - give it a quietly changing cultural and economic feel.
