Kea lies just south of the city of Truro in Cornwall, tucked into the wooded valley of the River Fal. The parish is mainly rural, made up of small villages and hamlets such as Old Kea and Calenick, with farmland, orchards and riverside lanes shaping a quiet, scenic landscape that also attracts walkers and visitors from the nearby city.
Historically the area takes its name from St Kea and retains a strong local identity centred on the village church and community amenities; the large Tregothnan estate is a notable local landmark, famous for its gardens and its private tea plantation. The local economy is a mix of agriculture, small businesses and tourism, with many residents also commuting into Truro for work.
