The village and civil parish of Lanivet lies in central Cornwall, a few miles from Bodmin and close to the western fringes of Bodmin Moor, so the parish mixes rolling farmland, granite outcrops and moorland scenery with quiet lanes and hedged fields.
There are signs of prehistoric activity on the surrounding moorland and a medieval parish church and old stone crosses scatter the lanes, while historically quarrying and agriculture shaped the local economy. Today the area is sustained by farming, small businesses and rural tourism - walking and riding on the moor are popular - and it retains a strong village community with a hall, local events and a couple of pubs.
