Mawgan Porth is a small coastal village on the north coast of Cornwall in England, set around a long sandy cove backed by dunes and rugged cliffs. It’s popular with families and surfers alike - there’s a strong seasonal tourist trade with cafés, holiday cottages and campsites - but it still feels like a village with a church linked to the local saint, and a mix of traditional cottages and newer holiday accommodation.
Trenance, the little valley and hamlet area just inland from Newquay, offers a quieter, more residential counterpoint: Victorian-era gardens and a boating lake give it a green, community-orientated feel and it grew historically around small agricultural and mill activity. Today it acts as a local recreational hub and peaceful base for visitors who want to be close to the North Cornish coast without the bustle of the larger resorts.
