St. Eval is a small village in north Cornwall, England, set a short distance inland from the Atlantic coast. It sits among rolling farmland and heath, with the dramatic north Cornish seascape close by, so it’s a quiet, agricultural community for much of the year but sees a lift from visitors in the summer months.
The village is probably best known for RAF St Eval, the former Second World War Coastal Command base whose legacy survives in a memorial and scattered wartime buildings. Today the local economy is a mix of farming, small businesses (including the well-known St Eval Candle company), and tourism - holiday parks, cottages and coastal recreation - and the social life reflects a small, tight-knit rural Cornish community.
