Praa Sands is a long, sandy beach and small coastal settlement on the northern shore of Mount's Bay in Cornwall, England, sitting roughly four miles east of Penzance. The beach is backed by dunes and low cliffs, offers rock pools at low tide and a broad surfable bay popular with swimmers and surfers; the coastal route of the South West Coast Path runs close by, giving good cliff-top views across the bay.
Tourism dominates the local economy, with holiday parks, cafés and a couple of pubs busy in summer, while the community quietens outside the season. Like many places in west Cornwall it has historic ties to seafaring and small-scale mineral working, and today combines a relaxed surf-and-beach culture with a more traditional village feel. Lifeguards patrol in summer and the beach is a popular family destination.
