Probus is a compact village and civil parish set in the rolling agricultural countryside of central Cornwall, a few miles south‑east of the cathedral city of Truro. Its position in the fertile claylands gives it a distinctly rural feel - a landscape of pastures, orchards and hedgerow lanes rather than the tin‑mining scars often associated with other parts of the county.
The village is best known for its medieval parish church of St Probus and St Grace, notable for one of the taller church towers in Cornwall, and for a long history rooted in farming and market gardening. Today Probus combines a strong local community life - village halls, shows and clubs - with a number of residents who commute into Truro, so the social mix blends traditional rural rhythms with modern village living.
